MONTY Don has slammed 'untrue' rumours he's leaving Gardeners' World - and has revealed how long he's signed up for.

It comes after the 68-year-old sparked rumours he would depart the popular BBC show that he has been on since 2002.

Back in November it was revealed that he'll be heading to Spain for a new show called Monty Don's Spanish Gardens, and he was also missing from the special winter ep of Gardeners' World in December.

Fans will be happy to know that he's not going anywhere.

During an interview on The One Show on Wednesday, Alex Jones asked: "Now then, Monty, we have to come to you...

"There's rumours in the paper, I'm not happy about it Monty, that say that you and Gardeners' World, which is my favourite on a Friday...

"Are parting company. Tell me this is not true?"

Monty confirmed: "It is not true."

He added: "All things being equal, and unless I do something terribly wrong, I will be doing it for at least another three years."

The star worried fans when he told Times Radio last year: "The logical thing to do is give up Gardeners' World."

Elsewhere in the episode he confessed that he was forced to flee a garden centre after being stitched up by worker on tannoy.

"Well, the last time I went to a garden centre, I went in and was looking at a packet of seeds...

"And suddenly there was a tannoy announcement that said, 'Ladies and gentlemen, Monty Don is here'."

He added: "So I left, I legged it. And so I don't go to garden centres so much, but I... It's a shame."

Monty's new show started last night.

Speaking about the programme, he previously said: "This was filmed last year when I spent seven weeks in Spain across April, May, June and October and covers over 40 different gardens right across Spain.

"I found it an exhilarating and fascinating experience with stunning gardens and learned so much more about the country - despite having visited many times before as a tourist.

"It looks incredible, and hope you find it as entertaining and rewarding watching it as I did making it."
