Harry Clark has defended his luxurious lifestyle following claims he couldn't afford a Toby Carvery.
The winner of hit BBC show The Traitors has spoken out after snaps showing him with his own private jet did the social media rounds. He became £95,150 richer as he became the ultimate gameplayer by betraying his co-stars and blindsiding Faithful Mollie Pearce in a shocking final. At the start of the series, Harry, 22, said he would use the prize money to treat his family and girlfriend, replace his car, and "start my new chapter".
Fans have since uncovered Harry seemingly lived a lavish lifestyle before appearing on the show and taking home the huge cash prize. He not only has flown on private jets but he also has celebrity friends. Viewers became conflicted by the photos of Harry's real life as on the show he confessed he wanted the prize so he could take his family out for dinner and not worry about being able to afford the bill.
One fan wrote: "'Thinking about my family working, worrying about going on holidays and stuff' — oh come on dorlin!!!" Another added: "Why does Harry even need this money when he flies around in private jets? It's p*****g me off." Someone else commented: "Hang on Hazza you had me believing you couldn't afford a Toby Carvery with the family in tonight's episode..." A fourth penned: "How many meals out does Harry want to go on?"
Harry has since had his say on the backlash and insisted the photos are not all as it appears. Speaking to Metro.co.uk, he said: "I wish I had a private jet and I wish I had the money to go on a private jet, it’s a waste of money to be honest. Everyone thinks I’m rich but I was very lucky to meet my other half, whose brothers have worked amazingly hard since they were 15, and I’ve somehow managed to silver-tongue my way through and weave my way into their lifestyle."
Happy Valley's James Norton teases Tommy's 'deep hatred' in final seriesHe is dating CBBC presenter Anna Maynard, who is the sister of singer Conor Maynard and I'm A Celebrity star Jack Maynard. Harry went on to say that all of his designer bags are fake as he "wouldn’t spend that money, because it’s a waste". Before joining the hit series, Harry worked as an engineer in the British Army.
Harry thanked his military training for helping him to win the jackpot - because he could think on his feet and grab sleep where he could. He added that he is relieved that close pal Mollie Pearce has forgiven him for snatching the £95k from under her nose. The reality star received the support of his famous in-laws during his time on the show.
Someone You Loved hitmaker Conor joked: "Wow, I can’t believe how good harry is playing this game #TheTraitorsUK (which is kind of worrying as he’s dating my sister). Anyway, this show is kinda taking over my life… Back to getting the music ready." While girlfriend Anna appeared to underestimate her boyfriend's seemingly endless capacity for sneakiness, after he chucked Paul under the bus.
She gasped: "I think we should debrief on that episode, don't you? Erm if anyone wants an unfaithful, unloyal, dishonest, a traitor as a boyfriend, be my guest. I'm putting him up for sale. I don't need that energy in my life, like, this whole thing, my perception has just changed. I'm sure there will be lots of you, I'm sure." In the caption of the light-hearted vid, she wrote: "Can we just debrief on that episode because I AM SHOCKED. How will I EVER trust him again."
