ACURA owners have rejoiced after a home mechanic shared how to access a secret diagnostics menu designed for technicians.

With so many computers being standard in modern cars, diagnosing a vehicle without special scan tools can be difficult.

Thanks to YouTuber Honda Jon (@HondaJon), who specializes in the luxury division of the Honda Motor Company, owners can now utilize their vehicle's many sensors to simplify diagnostics.

"Today I'm going to show you a secret diagnostics menu that is on pretty much any Acura vehicle that has a touchpad," he said at the beginning of his video.

He mentioned that he can access the hidden interface in a Honda Accord, reinforcing the cross-compatibility of the two companies.

"This you can do with one hand," he said, pointing the camera toward the touchpad in front of the center console.

Putting the vehicle on auxiliary mode, shows the information screen turning on.

The crucial step involved the three buttons - return, home, and SD card - directly above the touchpad.

"You're going to hold all three of these buttons at the same time and just hold it," he said.

He moved the camera to face the vehicle's standard menu and recorded it to show how it changed to the diagnostics menu option or an option for vehicle settings.

Jon clicked on the diagnostics menu to show an option tree with items like tire pressure sensor, fan speed, software version, or engine and fluid temperatures.

"This menu is typically for technicians at the dealership so they can try and figure out what's wrong without a scan tool," he said.

"But this could be handy if you were ever curious and wanted to look at these things yourself."

He pointed out that the menu could be used to troubleshoot speakers, as a tone would be activated to help pinpoint a nonfunctional speaker.

It's a feature of the menu that a viewer was keen to mention.

"Great video, I've gotta do this because my front left speaker tends to vibrate almost like it's blown," they wrote.

Jon responded, saying: "Definitely check it out!"

Many said they would try and access the screen in their Honda or Acura.

"That's cool, I'm going to try it on my 2022 Acura TLX A-Spec," another user wrote.

Another viewer wrote: "Nice work!"
