The programme has been aired from his own landscaped space in Herefordshire from 2011 onwards.

Yet Monty has been surrounded by rumours he will soon be leaving the post - leaving show fans hugely worried.

Just last month, he was forced to clarify his position after he dubbed the show a "relentless treadmill."

In a stark piece for Radio Times he said: "The logical thing to do is to give up Gardener's World."

Now the horticulture hero has clarified his view and admitted he "had had to backpedal."

He told The Times: "I was naive."

After revealing he made the comments "at the end of a long year" he added: "I was tired and thought it would be nice to have a rest, but I was naive to say that.

"I can categorically say without any equivocation that I'm very happy to do it for another three years.

"I have another year on my contract and we are negitiating another two.

"I fell into presenting 22 years ago, I've never had a long term path, so that's as much of a long term commitment as I've ever had in my life."

Monty had previously been forced to clap back at "untrue" rumours he was leaving the show.

It came after he sent fans wild when revealing a new gardening gig.

Monty sparked huge excitement on the reveal of his brand new BBC Two show titled Monty Don’s Spanish Gardens.

Meanwhile, on home turf, he showcased a "dramatic" and "sad" change to his garden.

What was once a beautiful green space with gorgeous hedges is now a gloomy site after it had been completely bulldozed.

Sharing the snaps on social media, Monty said: "Pretty dramatic change.

"Very sad but now the decision has been made it is also exciting."
