Karren Brady has teased that she's had an "extra special" birthday thanks to the arrival of her newborn grandson.
It was announced just last week that her daughter Sophia Peschisolido, 27, had given birth to a son, whose name has yet to be revealed. The baby was born exactly a week before the birthday of his grandmother Karren, now 55.
Sophia took to Instagram on Thursday to share a photo of the family celebrating Karren's birthday. It showed Sophia holding her newborn son beside Karren, with them sitting at a table in a restaurant which had a cake on it. They appeared to have been joined by Karren's husband Paul Peschisolido, 52, and Sophia's partner Frankie Makin.
It was suggested in the accompanying caption that Karren will be referred to as "nanny" by her grandson. Sophia wrote: "Happy birthday mommy/nanny. Baby's first outing." Karren shared the post on her own Instagram Story, adding: "It's an extra special birthday this year." She included a blue heart emoji in her caption.
Sophia announced that she had welcomed her son in a post last week. She shared a photo of the newborn wearing a onesie that had "welcome to the world" on the front. She added: "Our son, never known a love like this 28/03/24."
Inside Apprentice star Victoria Gouldbourne's glam, jet-setting lifeThe post also included a photo that's believed to have shown Frankie leaving the hospital with their newborn baby, who was being pushed in a pram. A third photo showed the couple's son. An update was later issued to fans, with Sophia writing on her Instagram Story: "Not been on my phone for ages but thanks so much to everyone who's messaged me. We are both doing good. Been in the newborn bubble."
Sophia announced that she was expecting a baby in November last year. Karren - who has been an aide to Lord Sugar on the BBC's The Apprentice since 2010 - later discussed the pregnancy whilst on ITV's Loose Women that month. She said: "I'll tell you what's incredible: when your baby is having a baby. It's just an incredible feeling. I mean, Sophia is such a kind-spirited, wonderful person. She's gonna make a fabulous mother - she's so happy and so excited."
Karren added: "I think she's gonna have a battle on her hands [as there are lots of relatives awaiting the arrival] so I think there's gonna be a big fight over who's gonna babysit! [...] She's got a great support network. [...] Grandmas should be and can be a really important influence because they've done everything in their life and they only want the best for you."
And although the new post has suggested that she's going to be called "nanny," Karren dismissed the idea in the interview. Asked if she would prefer to be called 'nan' or 'grandma' by her grandchild, she replied: "I don't know. I don't care. [...] I'm not really fussed. My mum is 'nanny,' so I don't think I'll be 'nanny' and 'grandma' seems a bit formal, doesn't it? So I don't know - we'll have to have a think."
