It has been reported Studio Lambert - which is behind hit shows such as The Traitors, Gogglebox and Squid Game: The Challenge - has won a contract to make more series of The Grand Tour.

The acclaimed production company will take over from the original producers Grand Tour Productions, which was set up after the trio left the BBC and their show, Top Gear.

Although Amazon has not formally announced the new commission, Industry magazine Broadcast reports that the series will have an 'updated' format.'

This will also be alongside a new line-up of on-screen faces to front the show after the departure of the original trip.

Further eagerly awaited details of the brand new series will be announced in due course.

It comes after we previously reported that Jeremy Clarkson, Richard Hammond and James May were all happy for Prime Video to make more episodes of the show without them.

The fan-favourite trio announced they would be leaving the show to focus on other projects and that they had filmed their last episode.

An industry insider admitted: "It’s a surprising decision and everyone realises it very much marks the end of an era for the three presenters.

"The Grand Tour is one of Prime Video’s most watched shows and Jeremy, James and Richard have a devoted following.

"But the guys have made no bones about the fact they’re all advancing in years and they have lots of other projects to pursue.

They added: "They just felt like the time was right and wanted to go out on a high when the show remained popular."

Richard also opened up to us about the end of his partnership with Jeremy and James after a run of 23 years.

Although by the looks of things, their farewell will not be too emotional, it's more likely to look like a “firm handshake and appreciative nod” than a full on blub-a-thon.

Comparing his long-time co-stars to family, he told us: "I’m the oldest of three brothers so when we were kids and played Batman, I was Batman, that was that.

"But with us three, who have become brothers on TV for the last 23 years, I’m the youngest and it really took some getting used to."
