Beyond Paradise’s Kris Marshall has fired back at ‘scornful’ backlash from show critics.
It was recently confirmed that the Humphrey Goodman actor will be reprising his role in season two of the hit BBC series.
The Beyond Paradise star hit back at critics of the Death in Paradise spin-off, admitting he's fine with people slamming the show.
Ahead of the show's return, Kris has addressed why the show was more popular with viewers than critics.
Speaking to Radio Times, he said: "You always want critics to like your work.

"I have a theory – not a theory, actually, it’s a fact – that to make a show like Death in Paradise or Beyond Paradise, that has a broad demographic, that you can sit down and watch with your kids, that bonds all family members in the room, is incredibly hard to do.
"And to have people scorn it… I’m fine with it now, but it bothered me a bit in the past. These shows are hard to make and they bring people together – that’s got to be lauded a little bit, right?”
Last week, show bosses confirmed that season two of Beyond Paradise will be making an explosive comeback on screens on March 22.
The successful first season ended on an epic cliffhanger, leaving fans demanding a second instalment be released as soon as possible—and now their wishes have come true.
Returning on the show alongside Kris is Sally Bretton as Martha Lloyd, Zahra Ahmadi as DS Esther Williams, Dylan Llewellyn as PC Kelby Hartford, Barbara Flynn as Anne Lloyd and Felicity Montagu as Margo Martins in season two.
The new season promises more heart-racing action than the previous series.
