Russell will be taking to the stage for the first time in seven years, and plans to make appearances across the UK.

He revealed that he will also be performing in Italy - in the very Colosseum where the actor played Maximus Decimus Meridius fighting for his life in the iconic Gladiator film.

However, this was not the part of the interview that caught the audience's attention.

Viewers were astounded by his clean shaven face, and many flocked to social media saying that he looks like a different person without his signature beard.

One person exclaimed: "Ah Rusty!!! Just wish him a happy belated birthday for his 60th please! He’s ageing well, still sexy at 60!"

A second chimed in: "You look great Russell."

Others pointed out that he now bears a striking resemblance to American actor John Goodman.

One person asked: "Is that John Goodman or Russell Crowe?"

Another joked: "John Goodman looks well. Hang on, it’s Russell Crowe!"

A third agreed: "Russell Crowe looks like John Goodman from Roseanne!"
