Posting on Joe’s Lawn Care, a gardening blog, the gardening gurus have revealed the simple tricks that will make a big difference to your outside space.
SUPER SALTY
When it comes to ensuring your grass grows quickly, long and bright, there’s a £1 hack that you won’t want to miss.
I'm a property expert - my guess for the cheapest time to buy a home this yearAccording to the gardening pros, Epsom Salts, which you can buy for just £1 from The Range, will keep your grass looking fresh.
The experts explained: “Like most store-bought fertilisers, Epsom salt contains a healthy amount of magnesium, which has a bunch of benefits, from aiding seed germination to boosting chlorophyll production, as well as helping your grass plants to absorb more vital nutrients, such as nitrogen and phosphorus.”
If you fancy giving this a try, you simply add two teaspoons of Epsom salts to one gallon of water using a spray bottle.
You’ll only need to do this once a month and using this method, with a spray bottle, is an incredibly effective way to help your grass grow.
SPICE THINGS UP
If you find that your plants are constantly dying, cinnamon could be the trick you need to try.
It may come as a surprise, but according to these gardening experts, cinnamon contains anti-fungal qualities that are able to prevent and stop diseases from spreading on seedlings.
Not only does cinnamon suck the moisture out of fungi, but even better, it smells great too.
WATER GOOD IDEA
If you’ve lost your watering can, the gardening pros at Joe’s have revealed their simple trick that will come in super handy.
The pros shared how to do this, using a needle and an empty plastic milk bottle.
They advised: “Simply head out to your recycling bin and upcycle the first milk carton you find by heating up a needle and poking holes in the lid so that water can flow through it freely.”

Thanks to this trick, you can say goodbye to pests climbing over your plants.
And particularly for coffee drinkers - this simple drink won’t cost you any extra cash.
The pros recommended: “Instead of throwing the remainder of your ground coffee into the bin (or compost pile), use it to keep lawn pests like ants, snails, and slugs away by sprinkling up and down your lawn.”
WEED YOU BELIEVE IT
Not only is vinegar good for a variety of household cleaning jobs, but according to these gardening experts, it’s great for killing weeds too.
For the ultimate organic lawn care tip, if you want to get rid of any weeds as they pop up on your lawn, simply douse them with a generous spray of vinegar.
Vinegar typically acts as a contact herbicide, meaning it will only affect the type of the plant it directly contacts.
MOSS OFF
Finally, if you want to say goodbye to pesky moss (and who doesn’t?), you’ll need to head into your kitchen and grab the Fairy Liquid.
For a cheap, but effective trick, turn your dish soap into an effective, eco-friendly moss killer.
All you need to do is simply mix 60ml of dish soap into four-and-a-half litres of water for your very own DIY moss killer.
