What does Top G mean?

'Top G' means 'Top Gangster', a phrase that apparently describes someone who is feared and respected by all — at least according to the self-proclaimed Top G who coined it.

This modern day slang is used by many as a way to greet their closest friends.

If you've been scrolling through TikTok since 2022, then this is a term you'll have no doubt seen hundreds of times — it has especially flooded content creators' comments sections.

And that's all down to toxic viral internet personality Andrew Tate.

Even things I do not know yet, you do not want to compete with me in those things. That is why I am Top G

Andrew Tate

In one of his many controversial and delusional podcasts, he described a person who is a Top G as being “capable in all realms”.

Top Gs must be "dangerous at everything" in his opinion.

Tate told listeners of his podcast that people will be intimidated when they are competing against him.

He explained: "Top G is an individual who is capable in all realms, as my father said.

"Sheer indefatigability and unmatched perspicacity made him a feared opponent in all realms of human endeavour.

“When you are a Top G you are dangerous at everything. That’s why I’m Top G.

“If they were to tell you you have to go on a racetrack and race Tate in supercars, you’d be like ’S***, I have to race Tate.' If you have to go in the boxing ring and fight Tate, you’d be like 'S*** I’ve got to fight Tate.' You have to go debate Tate, 'S*** I’ve got to debate Tate.'

“It doesn’t matter what the competition is, as soon as they say my name, you’re gonna be like ‘f***’s sake'.

“You add all this together, I am a feared opponent in any realm of human endeavour.

“Even things I do not know yet, you do not want to compete with me in those things. That is why I am Top G.”

And he's not the only Tate in his family that he believes deserves this title, as he also referred to his father, Emroy Tate — an American international chess master — as a man who possessed these traits.

What does G mean in text?

G has multiple meanings in text — one of them being gangster.

But many people interpret the slang use of G differently.

Some use G when texting to refer to a close friend or the word girl, such as in the phrase "Hey g".

"Can I have a g?" can refer to wanting a grand — £1,000 — or a gram of illegal drugs.
