Smelling good is important.
It makes us feel good about ourselves, boosts our confidence and most importantly - ensures we don't whiff. That's why we often smoother ourselves with perfume (or aftershave) before we head outside.
The only thing is the lovely scents can wear off after a while as the day goes on. Between us breaking up a sweat and being busy all day - it's no wonder the effects dwindle over time.
But, luckily for us, a hack has recently gone viral that explains what we can do to make sure our favourite scents continue to shine all day long. It was shared on TIkTok by a user named Charla's Cleaning Hacks, and people can't get over it.
In the clip you see Charla melt some Vaseline by covering a little pot of it with boiling water. This reduces the product to a liquid, which she then sprays with her chosen fragrance.

She then pops it in the fridge so it firms up a little again, which allows her to apply it to her neck or wrist with her finger. Obviously, this means she can pop the pot in her bag, and carry it around with her all day, so she can top-up whenever she fancies.
Pretty genius right? At least, that's what people seem to be thinking on social media.
In the comment section, one person wrote: "Kinda wanna do this." Another said: "So good."
A third replied: "You could always melt it on the radiator to save burning your fingers." Meanwhile, a fourth quipped: "All fun and games until you forget and stick it on your lips."
If you're dubious about the theory, there's actually said to be logic to it, as scents don't last long on dry skin. Alcohol also forms the base of most of our favourite fragrances, and this can cause it to dry out even more.
One reporter from the Guardian once tried out the theory by applying some petroleum jelly to one of her wrists before adding perfume to it. When she got to the end of the day, she admitted the jellied wrist definitely carried a stronger scent.
The next day she then took her experiment to the next level by using deeper, wood-based notes that are proven to last longest on the skin. She repeated the process, and was again impressed with the results.
The reporter confirmed the hack works, as it really helped her to smell better for longer. Not to mention, the clever trick may even help you to save money.
After all smelling nice comes at a price, and nobody wants to be wasting their sprays by topping up constantly throughout the day. Think of how much you're wasting to try and smell fresh.
If you add a little petroleum jelly onto your neck before applying your perfume, it looks like you could really slow down the drying out process, and smell nicer for longer. Who would have thought it?
