However, as the BBC One channel introduced BBC Breakfast, viewers were left staring at a frozen screen.
The show's instantly recognisable theme tune failed to play leaving just a shot of MediaCity in Manchester on screen.

The anchors opened the show as normal, attempting to divert attention to the glitch.
Jon told viewers: "Hello there, good morning.
"Welcome to Breakfast with Sally Nugent and Jon Kay."
Sally then introduced the day's headlines.
It's not the first time BBC Breakfast has encountered technical problems, with cameras previously accidentally cutting to Naga Munchetty and Charlie Stayt looking "bored".
On that occasion, a report finished earlier than expected, with Charlie and Naga flashing back on air without realising.
BBC Breakfast airs daily from 6am on BBC One and iPlayer.
