Joe, 35, was joined live from Birmingham by Carol Vorderman alongside comedian and writer Jack Rooke.

Funnyman Joe makes each guest be part of his mock news bulletin where he gets them to read exactly what is on the autocue, which is often controversial.

However, unbeknownst to him, bosses organised for BBC News presenter Maryam Moshiri to make a guest appearance.

As the audience erupted with cheers, the anchor said: "It's me, I am Maryam Moshiri, the news presenter with the happy fingers.

"Yes, the real countdown queen is here, here we go."

Maryam was forced to release a statement clarifying she had been counting down in a joke with colleagues behind-the-scenes.

Footage later released confirmed this, with Maryam coming on air exactly as she put up her middle finger in a bout of bad luck.

Maryam recreated the hilarious blunder with Joe live on Channel 4 but stopped when she reached four, as the audience continued on.

She told the live crowd: "Sorry, you do it, I can't do it auntie is literally watching."

Fans have been left in awe as one posted on social media: "You are iconic."
