FANS were left baffled after golfer Louis De Jager played topless with his trousers unbuttoned.

The South African ace was playing at the Soudal Open as he landed near a hazard on hole 13 in Belgium.

De Jager, 37, decided to avoid taking a drop and play the shot, however he had to get ready first.

He bizarrely removed his shirt and unbuttoned his trousers before playing the ball.

One commentator asked: "Is this really necessary?'

While his co-commentator explained: "Well he does not want to get mud on his shirt."

De Jager took his shot and reaped the rewards for his risk taking as he looked happy himself and got a cheer from the audience.

The world No306's actions went viral on social media with many fans left baffled.

One questioned: "Not sure what purpose the undone belt buckle is serving here??"

De Jager finished the hole with a bogey and went on to pick up birdies in his round to finish on Day 2.
