Coldplay will earn around £200,000 for their Glastonbury performance - but like fellow headliner Dua Lipa they will not see a lot of that money back as it will be ploughed into their set, staging and production costs.

However Coldplay will save some money as they are currently on tour and it’s not a stand-alone performance, meaning they can use their existing crew rather than draft in new ones, and will need less pricey rehearsal time.

But the money on offer at Glastonbury is dwarfed by the money on offer at other festivals such as BST Hyde Park where some headliners earn nearly four times that figure. A source said: “A lot of acts take the lower fee for the publicity not least as they are guaranteed an audience on the BBC.”

Coldplay are set to become the first act to headline Glastonbury Festival five times in less than an hour's time. The Saturday performance marks the British band’s first Pyramid Stage appearance since 2016, and it will see them overtake The Cure, who have headlined the slot four times.

Frontman Chris Martin, guitarist Jonny Buckland, drummer Will Champion and bassist Guy Berryman will follow pop superstar Dua Lipa, who headlined the festival on Friday with a string of hits, impressive choreography and several outfit changes. It's rumoured the band will be joined on stage by special guests this evening.

Keane is one band that's being mentioned, especially since they're already on site after performing on the Pyramid Stage earlier. Tim Rice-Oxley, a member of Keane, was university pals with Coldplay's Chris Martin and was almost poached by Coldplay in their early days. He could potentially share the stage with singer Tom Chaplin.

Janelle Monae is another name being thrown around. She supported Coldplay on their most recent tour and is currently in the UK. Although she's set to perform at Glastonbury tomorrow (Sunday) and has a gig at Brixton Academy tonight, some fans speculate she could make a surprise appearance at Coldplay's show, which doesn't end until 11.45pm.

Internet speculation also points to BTS star Jin as a possible guest. Coldplay collaborated with BTS on "My Universe" and Chris Martin co-wrote Jin's single "The Astronaut". The two musicians share a close bond.

Another potential guest is Tim Booth from the band James. Coldplay covered James' "Sit Down" on their 'Music Of The Spheres' tour, and the bands have performed together before. Plus, James is already on site as they're playing Glastonbury tomorrow. Chris is a huge fan of James and has previously admitted to being star-struck by Tim.
