WEEKS following its debut, the new series of the Great British Menu is rubbing viewers the wrong way.

Following several episodes of the cooking game show, many of them turned to Twitter to express their frustration.

Tom Kerridge, Nisha Katona and Ed Gamble returned to the judging panel on January 31, 2023, for an eighteenth season of the BBC Two program.

This year's series is inspired by Paddington's 65th birthday and acts as a celebration of British animation and illustration of all kinds, from comics to computer games.

However, viewers are struggling to find the appeal and, after a handful of instalments, they have taken to social media to share their thoughts.

"Am I the only one that thinks this week has been, well, weak? Thinking of chefs in previous heats that got sent home, they’d have smashed it against the Welsh contingent. Not an inspired - or inspiring - round at all", one of them recently commented on Twitter.

Another echoed: "Crazy drop in quality since the first couple of weeks, a fella went out on day 1 with two 8’s in the first week."

"'The starters are vegan to encourage sustainability…' This is demonstrably bullshit from The Great British Menu", a third complained.

They added: "Sustainable - I would assume - means low carbon footprint. So how do avocados etc. flown across the world beat a local piece of chicken?"

"Don't they even bother trying to link to the brief anymore? What the hell did Sam's starter have to do with Dennis the Menace?", a fourth viewer chimed in.

Another jumped in: "The connections to the brief in the last two weeks has been practically non existent."

"I don't think that there is enough connection to the brief on these fish courses, they all require explanation", one viewer concluded.

Viewers reportedly switched off from last week's instalment of the hit BBC show, issuing complaints about the "humourless" and "dour" on Twitter.

"Crack a smile one of you, depressing night and Veteran Chef showing us Scots up with her sour attitude", one penned.

"Missing the joy of Michael O’Hare last week… this week’s lot are minus craic! Both the chefs and the veteran are very serious", another added at the time.
