In tonight’s second episode of the series Catherine made a horrifying discovery.

She learned that her own sister Clare had betrayed her by taking grandson Ryan to visit Tommy - his biological father.

Fans know Tommy raped and abused Catherine’s daughter - and caused her to take her own life.

The court order that prevented Tommy from contacting his son lapsed with Catherine unaware - and he’d taken full advantage.

After a tense few days, Catherine held her tongue and decided to follow her sister to ensure she was betraying her.

And after driving to Sheffield to the prison where Tommy is, Catherine couldn’t deny it to herself.

As Clare settled herself into a cafe, she was shocked to see her sister calling her.

And in an incredible tense scene, Catherine lurked behind her sister as Clare repeatedly lied about where she was and what Ryan was up to.

“I was just ringing to find out how you’d got on,” said Catherine as she took a seat behind her sister.

As Catherine kept the conversation going, Clare struggled to keep lying to her.

But as it looked like Catherine was about to leave and let her sister’s lies go unchallenged, she got up.

Walking into the cafe she sat down opposite Clare and said: “Hiya.”

The tension was too much for viewers and they can’t cope with it.
