CHANELLE Hayes has suggested food addiction is worse than battling heroin.

Chanelle, 35, took the decision to go under the knife after struggling to overcome binge eating.

Speaking to Johnny Seifert on Secure The Insecure podcast, she said: "I was in a really bad place with my eating.

"Other people who haven't experienced food addiction or the cycles of unhealthy eating and binge eating disorders would be like 'oh my god, it's some biscuits calm down. We all have some biscuits every now and again like chill out'.

"But if that was alcohol or if that was heroin or some sort of drugs, and you just had one little bit of it, you would know for sure that that is your break in your sobriety.

"It's no different when it comes to this, you've really got to have the support to be able to stay on a lifelong healthy eats and are eaten in moderation with the occasional treat. 

It's, that's what's harder with food, I would say, you've got to eat to live, you could go the rest of your life without ever having recreational drugs, you could go the rest of your life without having a sip of alcohol, and you would live, you could not go the rest of your life without food, because you would die.”
