My wife's retirement dream has left me feeling lost, I miss my home

I’M thinking of returning to my home town because living out my other half’s retirement dream by the coast has made me feel disconnected – but my wife said she is staying put.

She and I grew up on the same estate and were friends long before we officially got together at the age of 21.

I’m 74 now and my wife is 71.

Our children are grown up.

We have two granddaughters, and it pains me that we hardly see them now.

My wife is like my best friend, but her dream of living by the coast was a bad idea for me.

I’m used to a lively home, but now the doorbell never rings.

My wife says I should return to our home town because she’s tired of me complaining.

But how can I leave her behind? It would end us.
