FANS have praised The Great British Sewing Bee for using diverse models in its latest episode.

Season nine, episode two of The Great British Sewing Bee aired on Wednesday (May 31) and saw the design contestants complete three challenges of creating garments based around a travel wardrobe.

This included a Sewing Bee first of making a rucksack for any backpacking needs, turning windbreakers into emergency rainwear, and another Sewing Bee first of made-to-measure swimsuits.

At the end of the episode, 11 made-to-measure swimsuits were fitted onto models who showcased the designs that were created in just four hours.

The models strutted down a workroom runway before being critiqued by judges Patrick Grant and Esme Young.

The Great British Sewing Bee used an array of models, which spectators praised. 

A lover of the show tweeted: "The models on #SewingBee are fabulous! So varied and interesting there was nowhere to hide in that final challenge @sewingbee."

"Hooray for #SewingBee using such a diverse set of models for the made-to-measure challenge. It's so much more interesting and REAL to see the clothes being made for different body shapes and sizes."

Replying to the above tweet a fan added: "Exactly. So good. Telly can do a good job to represent people, so people at home can identify & see themselves in what they see."

"#SewingBee is such a lovely warm show and how fantastic to see a range of normal body size models."

Contestant Gillie was the next designer sent home, this time with a "suitcase of memories".

On next week's episode, the sewers are celebrating West Africa as they take on three new challenges. 

The Great British Sewing Bee airs on Wednesday 9pm on BBC One and is available on BBC iPlayer.
