A HOMEOWNER decided to settle a border dispute with his neighbour by sawing their garage in half.

Gabriel Brawn went to work with a truck-mounted claw crane after claiming the outbuilding was sitting partly on his land.

The construction worker got two land surveyors to determine that it was partially on land that belonged to his property, according to Bangor Daily News.

TikTok account Neighborhood Disputes reposted the May 2020 row three years later - on May 22.

One viewer wrote: "I can almost guarantee he didn't start this neighbor war, but he hit a checkmate cutting a garage in half. That's awesome."

Another said: "Although that cut work was extremely impressive, is was also, extremely petty. Just sell them the land for way over market."

A third user related to Gabriel's situation as he did the same thing.

"I had to do the same thing in Nebraska, had to be done and is totally legal. Way to go buddy," he said.

Gabriel lives in Dover-Foxcroft, Maine, with his wife, Tracy Brawn.

Tracy told local media she and her family had had a contentious relationship with their neighbours since moving back to Gabriel's childhood home in 2012.

Decades ago, the property in Grove Street included the land where the offending garage sat, but it now belongs to a neighbouring lot.

The two homes peacefully co-existed until the former owner of the more recent property, Steve Ritter, died in 2016.

The Brawns attempted to buy the lot from Ritter's wife, Theresa Laythe-Ritter, who took over management of the property after her husband's death.

“When the dad [Steve Ritter] was alive this was a perfect place to live,” Tracy said according to Bangor Daily News.

“As soon as that poor man passed away this place turned to craziness and chaos.”

Tensions escalated before coming to a head when the Brawns brought in a land surveyor.

He determined that the property line fell right through the centre of the garage.

The Ritters moved out shortly after.

Their youngest son returned to ask the Brawns about retrieving his father's ashes from the garage.

“We said, please do. We want our property back because we’ve been paying taxes on it for years,” Tracy said.

“But he went over there and started throwing trash all over the place and smashing glass and taking bureaus and throwing them outside in the yard.”

The next day, Gabriel returned with a Sawzall, a type of machine-powered saw.

“We’re putting up a fence. Fences make good neighbors,” Tracy continued.

“That’s what we’ve learned from this.”

Meanwhile Georgia neighbour Donna also had to take matters into her own hands, as she took a savage revenge on the couple next door who complained her fence was too tall.

Although she had no choice but to obey the county rule, she painted the lowered fence facing their house in clashing neon colours.
