However, Springwatch viewers were horrified when they were informed more about the mysterious water animals.

Fans took to social media in their droves after it was revealed in the segment that moon jellyfish have no bones, no blood or even brains.

They couldn't help but comment on Twitter in amazement as one fan exclaimed: "This feature on jellyfish might be the most amazing/horrifying thing I’ve ever seen pre-watershed!"

A second wrote: "This is absolutely mesmerising!? Who knew the Jellies had such an interesting story PLEASE!? ????."

"So jellyfish are basically just weird things that look pretty but have a sting that hurts ?, " penned a third.

Whilst a fourth fan declared: "Jellyfish…..No brains, no bones, no blood. #springwatch."

And a fifth commented: ""I don't know what I previously thought about the reproduction of jellyfish but in the name of all that is holy I did not think it was like that ????."

"Another confused fan asked: "How do they move etc if they have no brain? #Springwatch."

Meanwhile a seventh noted: "I have been watching Springwatch for 18 years, and I don’t think I ever seen such a magical film as the moon jellyfish. It blew me away scientifically and visually."

However, not all fans were in agreement with the jellyfish enthusiasts as some did not like the cruel nature of their fate.

One viewer fumed:"I know it's nature , but that's made me switch off ???? its not b***** planet earth with Attenborough."

Another noted: "Jeez, #Springwatch is brutal this year! I can hardly bear to watch. Surely these gruesome killings must be to do with the weather and lack of food for all wildlife?"
