He took to Twitter saying: "Four years ago today, I walked into the office of a consultant neurologist. He examined me for ten minutes and then confirmed my worst fears."

He added: "Since then it has been a rollercoaster. Bad medication, good medication, triumph and disaster."

But the star has assured fans that he is not willing to let the debilitating disease take control as he said: "This has enabled me to fight hard on the twin fronts of comedy and quizzing and I'm happy to say that I've never been busier. "

Paul is one of the main quiz masters that compete against selected guests on the show - and is incredibly hard to beat.

But his messages on Twitter are not isolated as it was only recently that he gave fans an update on his health.

Appearing on Loose Women he said: "To be perfectly honest with you, Covid has been more part of my life than Parkinson's because Parkinson's is quite a slow process compared to a global pandemic."

He added: "So I've had more worries with Covid than Parkinson's because I'm not quite where I was two years ago for sure but I'm still fighting fit."
