FANS of The Great British Sewing Bee have slammed the BBC as they feel one the show’s current contestants was “'robbed”' of winning a “fixed” challenge.

Season nine, episode five of The Great British Sewing Bee aired on Wednesday (June 21) and saw the remaining sewers tackle three challenges inspired by the world of art.

First host Sara Pascoe gave the design candidates the brief to make a skirt inspired by the modernist movement.

This had to include appliqueing abstract shapes onto the garment and making a sash that tied in an enormous, Esme-pleasing bow.

Next up was the Transformation Challenge, where the sewers were asked to take massive canvases painted by local art students and turn them into dresses.

Last but by no means least was the Made-to-Measure, which saw the competitors take inspiration from the 20th-century surrealist movement.

Everyone had to dig deep to draw on their own dreams and subconscious to create fantastical, mind-bending outfits for the catwalk.

One particular contestant has been proved herself a hit with the judges and public, with many predicting her to win from the very beginning.

Asmaa, who lives in Cardiff with her family, has been the standout sewer for a number of weeks, which is why many were left stunned last night when her “stunning” creations didn’t win the coveted Garment Of The Week.

Taking to Twitter during the show viewers voiced their outrage.

One person wrote: “I loved Sewing Bee tonight. Really great theme this week, but I felt Asmaa was robbed of Garment Of The Week. Her transformation was just sublime! Such a shame #sewingbee”

“Okay but why was Asmaa's transformation not garment of the week #SewingBee,” questioned another social media user.

While a third person added: “Asmaa's transformation garment was wonderful. She is clearly the best. ???? #sewingbee”

And someone else gushed: "Asmaa has made a STUNNING transformation, give her the trophy now tbh"
