Piers Morgan has blasted the BBC’s handling and coverage of one its own presenters being accused of allegedly sending and recieving sexual images of a child under the age of 18.

The outspoken star has already shared his thoughts on claims that an unnamed BBC hosts is said to be facing an investigation after allegedly paying a teen for the explicit photos.

The mother of the alleged victim, who was just 17 at the time, claims the teen had used the £35,000 they received to fund a crack cocaine addiction.

Radio 2 presenter Jeremy Vine and former Strictly It Takes Two co-host Rylan Clark both took to their respective Twitter accounts on Saturday to deny being the mystery presenter amid frenzied speculation sparked by the reports.

In response to the claims, broadcaster Piers, 58, took to Twitter to share his own thoughts on the allegations. He wrote: "This is a huge scoop and a massive scandal that will rock Britain."

The former Good Morning Britain presenter has now taken aim at the entire organisation for their coverage of the allegations, branding it ‘ridiculous’.

He responded as one Twitter user shared a screenshot from the BBC News, writing: "BBC host asks BBC reporter standing outside the BBC about allegations against unnamed BBC star. BBC reporter says they "haven't been able to confirm" whether the BBC presenter has been suspended by the BBC."

Retweeting the post, Piers branded the whole handling of the scandal: “Ridiculous”.

His followers were quick to agree.

One person wrote: “That's a whole lot of BBC,” followed by an awkward face emoji.

“SO META,” joked someone else.

While a third follower stated: “Utter madness that this disgrace of a human being has not been named. All the other decent BBC presenters are under scrutiny they do not deserve imo.”

The mother of the alleged victim, who was 17 when they began conversing with the star, has revealed how she "instantly recognised" the man as he sat in his pants when shown a screenshot from a video call between them.

While the BBC star has remained anonymous, the mother of the recipient has not shied away from expressing her anger and disgust with what has happened.

"I was shocked to see a picture of him sitting on a sofa in his house in his underwear," she told The Sun.

"I immediately recognised him, he was leaning forward getting ready for my child to perform for him.

"My child told me, 'I have shown things' and this was a picture from some kind of video call."

The BBC reports that the presenter in question is not scheduled to be on air in the next few days but the corporation is understood to be looking into the claims.

Addressing the original story, a BBC spokesperson told the Mirror: "We treat any allegations very seriously and we have processes in place to proactively deal with them. As part of that, if we receive information that requires further investigation or examination we will take steps to do this. That includes actively attempting to speak to those who have contacted us in order to seek further detail and understanding of the situation.

"If we get no reply to our attempts or receive no further contact that can limit our ability to progress things but it does not mean our enquiries stop. If, at any point, new information comes to light or is provided – including via newspapers – this will be acted upon appropriately, in line with internal processes."

Culture Secretary Lucy Frazer will be speaking to BBC director-general Tim Davie today over the “deeply concerning” allegations about an unnamed presenter, the Department of Culture, Media and Sport has said.

Ms Frazer said she has been assured by Mr Davie that the corporation is investigating the allegations an unnamed presenter paid a teenager for sexually explicit images “swiftly and sensitively”.
