Gloria had been discussing the megastar's 70th birthday on the ITV programme when she found herself in hot water with fans.

She said, "Oprah fluctuates a lot. Sometimes she's very overweight and now she looks great. She's very, very thin."

While it appeared she meant no malice, the broadcaster was soon blasted on X, formerly Twitter, by those watching at home.

One fumed, "Gloria’s comments about oprahs weight as usual were unacceptable and off topic, she’s just awful. Get her off."

Another added, "'She looks fantastic. She's very very thin'. Okaaaaay....."

Someone else said, "Totally agree,,,, very telling of Gloria’s priorities that this is the first thing which comes to mind when she thinks of Oprah."

One more chimed in with, "Gloria being a little fatphobic like her beloved Cliff Richard," referring to his recent controversy on This Morning.

Veteran crooner Sir Cliff had sparked fury for his comments about Elvis Presley while justifying why he turned down their "one chance" to meet.

Host Alison Hammond, 48, even called out the singer, 83, for admitting the King's weight had made him reject the opportunity.

The Summer Holiday hitmaker had said, "If I am going to have a photo with him and it's going to be hanging on my refrigerator, he's got to look good.

"So I put it off - and then of course he died."

Alison replied: "Is that why you don't want me at your house? Just joking."
