ADAM Thomas has shown fans the adorable moment his son Teddy discovered he had bagged a part in Waterloo Road.

The actor, 34, caught his eight-year-old boy on camera as he told him he would be playing his on-screen son in the BBC drama.

Teddy initially lost out on the part of little Tommy to another child actor. But, when he turned it down, Teddy was offered the part.

Adam was the one who told the youngster he had landed the part in the rebooted BBC show.

The former Emmerdale star shared the exciting news in his family kitchen, alongside Teddy's cousin and co-star Scarlett Thomas, 14.

Teddy quickly dissolved into "happy tears" - which immediately set Adam's Instagram followers off.

One commented: "Omg im crying , go Teddy! xx."

Another agreed: "Why am I literally sobbing at this?"

And a third admitted: "I actually cried ???? cutest thing ever ♥️."

Teddy was sat at a breakfast bar when Adam - who has reprised his role as Donte Charles - told him the news.

He said: "He can't do it anymore, so they're going to have to recast. And they'd love to offer you the part, Teddy. So..."

Scarlett, who plays Teddy's on-screen sister Izzie, then squealed: "Welcome to the Waterloo Road family!"

Teddy immediately burst into tears, along with the rest of the room - including his mum Caroline Daly and uncle Ryan (Scarlett's dad), who was filming.

Caroline quickly asked, "Are those happy tears?!" as Scarlett scooped her cousin in for a big hug.

Teddy sweetly nodded his head while Ryan exclaimed: "I'm God, I'm crying! Oh my God!"

Cuddling her little boy, Caroline excitedly told him: "Scarlett's going to be your sister and daddy's going to be your daddy!"

Former Coronation Street star Ryan then jokingly shouted: "What about me?!"

Waterloo Road returned to the BBC last week with a shock plot twist following an eight-year hiatus.

Adam, Scarlett and Teddy were all seen for the first time as the Charles family, along with mum Chlo Charles - played by Katie Griffiths.

But viewers were left horrified when Chlo - who was Donte's original Waterloo Road sweetheart - suddenly died following an accident.

Scarlett and Teddy's acting has since excelled, with them both taking part in the emotional scenes that have followed.

When asked what it has been like working alongside his real-life niece and son, Adam recently said: "To go back with them is just the best feeling ever."

He then mused: "At first, I thought it'd be amazing. But I remember the first day on set with them and they were literally arguing.

"Teddy was crying and I was thinking, "what have I got myself into here?!'"

But Adam quickly added: "They have been amazing and, I hate to say it, but they are better than me!"

Waterloo Road continues next Wednesday, 8pm, on BBC1
